Essay # 5 Argument - Research Paper

Assignment:

select a controversial topic that you wish to learn about.  Use the Topic Ideas tab above to explore different ideas. Once you have selected a topic, find and select high quality resources that support your topic.

Goals:

  • Select an arguable topic
  • Develop a focused thesis statement
  • Find 4 or more high quality sources, preferably scholarly, that you will use to support your thesis
    • 3 must be from books or periodicals (articles from magazines, newpapers or journals)
    • 1 may be from an authoritative website (.edu or .gov)
    • sources must be 3 or more pages long
  • Quote and cite your sources correctly - use MLA format
  • Write a strong conclusion
  • Review and revise your essay as needed
