Creating a Citation
Creating a Citation

1. Use the pull-down menu (click on the down triangle as shown above) at the top of the page to select the citation type (such as journal, magazine or newspaper).
2. Next, click the Create Citation button.
3. You will be guided through a series of questions designed to help you make correct decisions about your source.
When making a choice for the question What is the publication medium of this source?, keep the following in mind:
• Print resources are items that you viewed in their original print form. Examples of print resources include materials found on the shelves of a library or articles in a 'print' journal.
• Online resources are found through the Internet by using databases, such as EBSCO's Academic Search Premier, LexisNexis, and Science Direct or through search engines like Google.
4. The Create Citation form has many entries. You may not be able to fill in all of the blanks with the information contained in your source. Be sure to use the helpful links on the right side for capitalization and abbreviation information and other helpful suggestions for creating the correct citation.

5. After you have finished filling in your information, make sure you click on Check for Errors at the bottom of the page. This will let you know if any information has been entered incorrectly. After the error check has been completed, click on Update Citation.
6. When the citation has been generated, you will be brought back to the main page, where you can create more citations by using the pull-down menu.
